The Institute

The Aegean Institute of Maritime and Naval Law was established as a legal entity under public law by Law 1999/91 and began operating in January 1994. According to its founding law, the Institute is affiliated with the University of the Aegean and is supervised by the Ministry of Justice, Transparency, and Human Rights.

The Institute is housed in a building belonging to the Archaeological Resources Fund on Ippoton Street in the Medieval City of Rhodes, which was granted by the Ministry of Culture, and has an important specialized library in the fields of Maritime Law, Maritime Law, and Marine Environmental Protection Law.

According to its founding law, the Institute's objectives are:

 

- carrying out research programs

 

- publishing scientific announcements

 

- organizing lectures, seminars, and conferences

 

- collaborating with Greek and international academic institutions and institutes, and

 

- providing opinions and consulting services.
